We call them oiu'au'au, Lifemarks, tattoos that capture in them the essence of a memory. It is an art we practice from a young age, striving to perfect it before our first memories start to fade. And though the small markings fade into cloudy lines after only a few short decades, we often rework them, and the ink still holds its power regardless."
